#AD318‑2 – Commercial garage door/door operator service technician

Job description

The successful candidate will be one of several technical staff who report directly to the company owner. Experience with commercial grade garage doors & operators is preferred, although consideration will be given to acceptable candidates with a proven practical background with other related mechanical/service orientation or construction experience.

The candidate will be required to install and provide expert repair services for:

  • Residential and commercial garage doors, door openers, and related accessories
  • Residential and commercial gates, barriers, openers, and related accessories
  • Loading dock doors and other types of overhead doors, openers, and related accessories
  • Rolling overhead doors, shutters, and related accessories
  • Fire door and fire shutter installation, testing, and service

Critical job skills

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can:

  • Work on their feet most of the day and lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs)
  • Safely climb a ladder to a height of 20 feet.
  • Work full‑time (40+ hours per week).
  • Has, and can maintain, a clean driving record.
  • Able to operate tow motors & trailers.
  • Can pass pre‑employment drug‑testing and continue to pass ongoing, randomly prescribed, drug‑testing.
  • Provide and maintain their own set of quality hand tools, as required to complete the work.
  • Reliably arrive at the job site on‑time, in a presentable manner, and communicate effectively with company office staff, other technical staff, and customers.
  • Continuously display a professional, courteous, friendly, attitude with a customer‑service oriented mindset.
  • Work independently, multi‑task, and flexibly adapt the work plan to solve problems and achieve consistently high quality results in a reasonable timeframe.

Compensation & benefits

  • Pay scale: $15 to $20 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Job‑specific training.
  • A full‑time position (40+ hours per week).
